In 2015 I was browsing one of my favourite flea markets in Brighton, the appropriately named 'Snooper's Paradise'. If you visit Brighton I highly recommend this North Laines 'junk' emporium. It is easy to spend several hours browsing the cluttered cabinets for every sort of collectible. At the time I wasn't really searching for photographs until this astonishing find....The front page of an Australian newspaper from 1915. 'The Western Mail' featuring photographs of fallen men from the Gallipoli campaign. What really touched me was that the men in this paper were so far from their families in both time and distance.
I have researched some of the men featured, and successfully reunited the photograph of F M Gill with a family historian down-under.....shall pick up the research again soon, always worth revisiting as we know, genealogy websites expand and more of us research or families and join websites such as Ancestry.
I will publish the names of all of the individuals in my database - searchable on the site. Questions and discussion also welcome on the forum.
